The first Edo Japan restaurant was opened in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in 1979 by a founder originally from Japan. Since then, Edo Japan has grown to over 200 locations across Canada. Now, we’re bringing the same fresh and flavorful Japanese-inspired cuisine to the U.S., starting with our first American Concept, Edo Japanese Grill, in Arizona!

I have a shellfish allergy. How do you handle this?

Accepted Answer

Please inform our staff of your shellfish allergy when placing your order. Shrimp and other proteins are cooked on the same grill, and while we thoroughly clean it before preparing each meal, cross-contamination is still possible. Additionally, tempura shrimp, yam tempura and spring rolls are cooked in the same fryer oil, which may pose a risk for individuals with shellfish allergies.

Despite our precautions, normal kitchen operations may involve some shared cooking and preparation areas, equipment and utensils, and the possibility exists for your food items to come in contact with other food products, including other allergens.

* Due to the individualized nature of food allergies and food sensitivities, customers' physicians may be best positioned to make recommendations for customers with food allergies and special dietary needs.

Currently, we are not licensed to serve alcohol.

Do you use MSG?

We do not add MSG to our food. However, our tempura dipping sauce contains MSG, and our Gyoza is produced in a facility that uses MSG.

Is your teriyaki sauce vegan?

Our teriyaki sauce does not contain animal-derived ingredients. However, it does contain sugar, which some vegans may not consider vegan-friendly.

Do you have gluten-free options?

We are pleased to say that our restaurants do carry gluten-free options like edamame beans, sushi rolls (Avocado, Cucumber Roll).

Also, you can order our Teriyaki meals on rice with steamed veggies and steamed meat choices - shrimp, chicken, or beef.

However, please, make sure the person taking your order knows the proteins cannot have any sauce whatsoever. We cook our chicken in soy sauce and teriyaki sauce. The other proteins we cook in soy sauce, teriyaki sauce and green seasoning which contains margarine.
